SYMPTOMS

You create a Microsoft Windows-based application in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET. This application contains a report that you created by using Business Objects Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET.

If you deploy the application on a computer that is running Windows 98 and that has the Microsoft .NET Framework installed, you may receive the following error message when you try to run the report:

Load Report Failed

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Dbghelp.dll file is missing on computers that are running Windows 98. The Crqe.dll file that you must have to run the Crystal Reports report depends on the Dbghelp.dll file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you must include the Dbghelp.dll file in the Setup package for your Windows-based application if you deploy the application on a computer that is running Windows 98. After you deploy the application on a computer that is running Windows 98 and that has the .NET Framework installed, copy the Dbghelp.dll file to the folder where the Crqe.dll file is located.

Note Typically, the Crqe.dll file is located in the following folder on your computer that has Visual Studio .NET installed:

%Program Files%\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\1.0\Bin

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
