SYMPTOMS

When you try to select an IP address for a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) virtual server in the SMTP properties on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, the IP address list displays All Unassigned, and no IP address can be selected.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the Web server's computer name starts with a numeric character. For example, if the Web server's computer name is 123TEST, the computer name is not displayed in the SMTP properties.
