Channel Browser dialog box warns you that non-secure data may appear

Article ID: 835252

Article Last Modified on 2/4/2004

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 Connector for SharePoint Technologies

SYMPTOMS

When you browse a Microft Content Management Server (MCMS) and SharePoint Portal Server (SPS) integrated Web site by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), and you click Browse to open the Channel Browser dialog box, Microsoft Internet Explorer loads a Channel Browser dialog box that warns you that non-secure data may appear. The Channel Browser dialog box prompts you to select Yes, to select No, or to select More Information before you can continue. If you click No, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) returns an

Action Canceled

response to the client. However, an auto-postback immediately occurs and renders the page correctly, and you can see the Channel Browser dialog box. If you click Yes, you can see the Channel Browser dialog box immediately.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, do either of the following:

  • Make sure that the MCMS Site URL property is modified to use an SSL hyperlink, such as https://server_name/path. You can find the MCMS Site URL property under Custom Properties for the MCMS Page Listing Web Part.
  • Disable SSL on the SharePoint Portal Server computer.
  • Access the SharePoint Portal Server site by using the http:// protocol instead of the https:// protocol.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
