SYMPTOMS

When you try to copy many files from one folder to another folder on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, you may receive an error message that is similar to one of the following:

Insufficient system resources exists to complete the requested service

Insufficient memory to complete operation

IO Disk failure

Unable to copy file due to disk problems

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you have installed the hotfix that is described in the following Knowledge Base article, and you try to copy many files from one folder on a NTFS file system partition to another folder on another NTFS partition:

RESOLUTION

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
