SYMPTOMS
When you run the Upgrade.exe tool to export Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 data during an upgrade operation to Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, you may receive the following error message:
Additionally, entries that are similar to the following are logged to the Upgrade.log file that is created in the Temp folder on the server:
CAUSE
This issue may occur if one or more document management workspaces in SharePoint Portal Server 2001 contain one or more folders. Before you can use the Upgrade.exe tool to export Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 data during an upgrade operation to SharePoint Portal Server 2003, each workspace that uses the following URL must be empty:
http://Server Name
/Public/Applications/Workspace Name
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, make sure that each SharePoint Portal Server 2001 workspace that uses the following URL is empty:
http://Server Name
/Public/Applications/Workspace Name
To examine the workspace, open the URL path as a Web folder. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- Click File, and then click Open.
- Type the complete URL path.
For example, type http://Server Name
/Public/Applications/Workspace Name
.
- Click to select the Open as Web Folder check box, and then click OK.
- Delete the contents of this folder.
Note You must do this for each workspace.
If the workspace contains folders, remove the folders. After you do so, run the Upgrade.exe tool to export SharePoint Portal Server 2001 data.
