SYMPTOMS

In the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, when you call the AppendChild method with a Null parameter in Smartnav.js, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:

An error has occurred in the script on this page Line: 81 Char: 13
Error: Invalid pointer Code: 0
URL: http://ServerName/smartnav/Lookup.aspx

RESOLUTION

Software update information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
