DNS domain search ends abruptly on a Windows 2000-based computer

SYMPTOMS

When you run a search on your Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, and your Windows 2000 DNS client is set to append parent suffixes of the primary DNS suffix to searches that resolve domain suffix searches, the search may end abruptly. Also, no additional parent suffixes are appended to the remaining domains in the suffix search list.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when one of the zones in the suffix search list has been set to deny queries.
