SYMPTOMS
When you are prompted to change your password on a Microsoft Windows XP-based client computer or on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based client computer that resides on a network, and then you do so, you may be prompted to change your password again every 24 hours.
Note This 24-hour period starts at the moment when you are first prompted to change your password, not at the moment when you actually change it.

WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, log off and then log back on to your computer every time that you are incorrectly prompted to change your password.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.
