A large segment of time is lost when you use GetTickCount in a custom program in Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you run a custom program in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and that program uses the GetTickCount() API, the program may lose a large segment of time.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when you run your custom program continuously and you do not restart your computer.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

Note Because Of file dependencies, this hotfix requires Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0.
