SYMPTOMS

An error message may be logged to the Client.msi.log file when you install or deploy the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Advanced Client. The error message in the Client.msi.log file is similar to the following:

[10:08:13] Queuing object FIL:C:\WINNT\System32\CCM\clicomp\RemCtrl\1033\_wchat32.dll with permissions D:(A;CIOI;GXGR;;;IU) [10:08:13] Queuing object FIL:C:\WINNT\System32\CCM\clicomp\RemCtrl\help\1033\SMSRC.chm with permissions D:(A;CIOI;GXGR;;;IU) Action start 10:08:13: CcmSetObjectSecurity. GenerateScript: [CcmSetObjectSecurity_Text] Action ended 10:08:13: CcmSetObjectSecurity. Return value 2. [10:08:13] @@ERR:25001 Error 25001. Setup failed due to unexpected circumstances The error code is 80070642 Action ended 10:08:13: CcmSetObjectSecurityInit. Return value 3. Action ended 10:08:13: INSTALL. Return value 3.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the SMS 2003 Advanced Client program (ccmsetup) quits unexpectedly during the initial phase of SMS 2003 Advanced Client installation. When the computer restarts, the error message is ignored, and ccmsetup continues the client installation. Ccmsetup may quit when a user restarts the computer, performs an administrative action on the computer, or logs off the computer. Regardless of the reason why ccmsetup quits, ccmsetup resumes client installation after the computer restarts.
