SYMPTOMS
When you run a program in a multithreaded environment, you may experience both of the following symptoms:
- The program intermittently stops responding (hangs).
- The program intermittently crashes and generates an access violation error message.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if all the following conditions are true:
- The computer running the program is under a heavy load.
- The program creates and destroys ios-derived classes in multiple threads.
- The program uses the old iostream library instead of the Standard C++ library that was introduced in Microsoft Visual C++ 5.0.
RESOLUTION
