SYMPTOMS

When you define search scopes for your portal site, you may find that search scope properties do not appear in the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) log files on the server.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you perform an advanced search, and Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 does not log the search scope properties to the IIS log files.

RESOLUTION

This problem was first fixed in a hotfix that is now contained in a service pack. If you installed the latest SharePoint Portal Server 2003 service pack, you do not have to install the hotfix.

Service pack information

This problem is corrected in Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 1.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
