SUMMARY
During the installation of Application Center 2000, certain groups and user accounts are created. Microsoft does not support changes to these groups and these user accounts.

During the installation of Application Center 2000, the following group account and user account are created:
- ACA_
COMPUTER_NAMEGroup- This group is given access to the Microsoft Application Center (MSAC) database on each cluster member that has Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000) installed for login purposes.
- The group is also granted launch and access permissions to various Application Center 2000 interfaces.
- ACL_
COMPUTER_NAMEUser- This user is used as the identity for the Application Center 2000 COM+ applications that are created and used by Application Center 2000 to log information to the MSAC database.
- This account is a member of the ACA_
COMPUTER_NAMEgroup.
During the creation of an Application Center 2000 cluster, the following account is created:
- ACC_
COMPUTER_NAMECOMPUTER_NAMEis the name of the cluster that is controller when the cluster is created.COMPUTER_NAMEis also a member of the ACA_COMPUTER_NAMEgroup.- The account is first created on the cluster controller, and a copy is created on each cluster member when the cluster member joins the cluster.
- This account is used to manage intra-cluster communication, for authentication across cluster members, for cluster member administration, and for content replication.
When the ACL account and the ACC account are created, they are assigned randomly generated password strings of 14 characters. The passwords are assigned to the Microsoft Windows accounts, and are kept (in encrypted format) in the Microsoft Internet Information Services metabase so that they can be used during cluster operations.
Important Microsoft does not recommend that you make changes to these accounts or to their passwords. Microsoft does not support changes to these accounts or to their passwords.
If you make changes to these accounts, note the following:
- If you experience problems, the Microsoft support team will ask that you set the accounts back to their original settings or values.
- Account passwords cannot be set to their original settings because the passwords are randomly created at installation time and the administrator never knows the password.
- To return the servers to a Microsoft-supported configuration, you may have to remove and re-install Application Center 2000 on one or all cluster members.
