SYMPTOMS
After your wireless 802.1x network client is authenticated, you may experience a short delay before you gain full connectivity through the wireless network connection.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the 802.1x service makes an immediate Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) address renewal request after the client has been authenticated. However, this request is made before the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) handshake is established and received by the client. As a result, the first DHCP address renewal request is lost, and therefore you experience a delay until a second request is issued by the client.
802.1x is used in some environments to allocate IP addresses, based on which user is logging on to the network. In this configuration, the client should update its IP address at each authentication. Otherwise, an IP address that was allocated to a previous user may be retained.
