SYMPTOMS
Either you receive an error message or Microsoft Internet Explorer stops responding, as described in the following:
- If you use Internet Explorer to move from a page that is loaded from a server to another page that is on the same server, you may receive the following error message:
- Internet Explorer stops responding if both of the following conditions exist:
- If there is a certificate-related error.
- If the OEM has implemented the custom WININET error handler function, IsDialogBoxHandled, to handle various certificate errors by returning ERROR_SUCCESS.
CAUSE
The error that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section occurs because WININET does not properly detect that the server has closed the connection.
IsDialogBoxHandled does not work for certificate related errors and requires an update to WININET and additional OEM code in IsDialogBoxHandled.
RESOLUTION

Prerequisites
This fix is supported only when all previously issued fixes for this product have also been installed.
Restart Requirement
