SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Windows NT Performance Monitor to check the performance of a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-based computer, the following event may be intermittently logged in Event Viewer: Event Type: Warning

Description:
The data buffer created for the "ESENT" service in the "c:\winnt\system32\esentprf.dll" library is not aligned on an 8-byte boundary. This may cause problems for applications that are trying to read the performance data buffer. Contact the manufacturer of this library or service to have this problem corrected or to get a newer version of this library.

Note Performance Monitor is a Windows NT administrative tool that monitors performance on both local and remote computers. Performance Monitor was replaced by the Performance console in Windows 2000. However, Performance Monitor can still be used to capture performance data from a Windows 2000-based computer, and therefore it is included in the Windows 2000 Resource Kit.
