The Winmgmt.exe process quits unexpectedly with an access violation

SYMPTOMS

When the Microsoft Windows Quality of Service (QoS) Packet Scheduler service is enabled, the Winmgmt.exe process may quit unexpectedly with an access violation. Additionally, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:

The instruction at 0xnumber referenced memory at 0xnumber. The memory could not be read.

RESOLUTION
