STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 Service Pack 2.

MORE INFORMATION

A COMTI Tracebits trace will contain the following line when this problem occurs:

13024 CStateMachObject::Invoke failed at point=1, hr=0x80020009.

A network protocol trace will show data that is returned to the host that is similar to the following:

0E 40 40 40 40 0F

In this example, x0E is the shift-out character, x40 is an EBCDIC SPACE character, and 0F is the shift-in character. This problem only occurs when an even number of SPACE characters is returned. If an odd number of SPACE characters is returned, or if any non-space character is returned with the SPACE characters, the DBCS conversion will succeed.
