SYMPTOMS
You view announcements on the home page of your Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 or Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Web site, and you move your pointer over the name of the user who added an item to list. When you do this, the pawn icon is not displayed. Therefore, you cannot click the pawn icon to display the menu that contains online presence settings and commands. These settings and commands include the following:
- Schedule a Meeting
- Add or Edit Phone Numbers
- Send Mail (
E-mail Address) - Additional Actions
- Add to Outlook Contacts
- Outlook Properties
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the 2007 Microsoft Office system or Microsoft Office 2003 is not installed on the client computer. The presence menu that is displayed when you move your mouse pointer over the name of a user who added an announcement in Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 or in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 requires the Name.dll file. This file is a component of Office and is installed on the computer when you install Office.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, install the 2007 Office system or Office 2003 on your computer.
