SYMPTOMS
If you click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the notification area to disconnect a universal serial bus (USB) storage device while your Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer is still running, you may receive the following error message:

- When you use this method to disconnect a USB device, this is known as hot-undocking.
- USB storage devices include floppy disk drives, CD-ROM drives, and hard disk drives.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you upgrade to Microsoft Windows Server 2000 Service Pack 3, install a USB 2.0 driver, and then install the following Enhanced Host Controller Interface (EHCI) card from VIA Technologies:
