SUMMARY

This article describes the Microsoft Office XP issue that is fixed in the Microsoft Office XP Post-Service Pack 2 Hotfix package that is dated September 4, 2003.

Issues That Are Fixed in the Hotfix Package

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package, but it was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article.

  • When you shutdown the Japanese version of Microsoft Windows 2000, you are prompted to wait 30 seconds while a process ends. This behavior occurs multiple times before the computer finally shuts down.

This behavior occurs because the Input Method Editor system that is included with Japanese language edition of Office XP is still running in the background during shutdown.
