SYMPTOMS
When you use the Folder Redirection feature in Microsoft Windows XP, and you use the user name as part of the share name (such as "\\server\%username%$\Documents" for the My Documents folder), and then you rename the user, the folder-redirection operation is unsuccessful.
CAUSE
This issue occurs when the new path is not used by the folder-redirection process because the user name (used as part of the share name) has been changed. In this scenario, the Folder Redirection engine treats the share as a folder, and it tries to rename the share. However, because a share cannot be renamed, the operation is unsuccessful.
RESOLUTION
