Server Runs Slowly or Stops Responding, and Event ID 2019 Is Logged in the System Event Log

SYMPTOMS

Your Windows 2000-based server may start to run very slowly, and it may eventually stop responding (hang). When this issue occurs, the following event is logged in the system event log:
Event ID: 2019
Description:
The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the Pool was empty.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you have an Intel network adapter installed in your Windows 2000-based server, and you do not have the latest Windows 2000 driver for the adapter installed. In this scenario, a memory leak may be occurring in the driver for the Intel network adapter.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the latest Windows 2000 driver for your Intel network adapter.
