Article Last Modified on 4/7/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Word 2002 Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you try to update the fields in the body of your Microsoft Word 2002 document, only the first occurrence of the NUMPAGES field is updated. If you try to update the fields in the document body a second time, only the second occurrence of the NUMPAGES field is updated. To update all the NUMPAGES fields that are contained in the body of your document, you must repeatedly press F9 as many times as there are NUMPAGES fields in the body of your document.

To update the fields in the body of your document, press CTRL+A, and then press F9.

Note This problem also occurs when you click Print Preview on the File menu, and then close Print Preview.
