SYMPTOMS
A Web server may be registered to a Domain Name System (DNS) that holds the URL for a Web service. When a request is sent to the Web server from a Web client, the Web client may stop responding for a time period that is longer than the time period that is specified in the timeout property.
CAUSE
When a Web client tries to a call a Web service by using the Web service URL, the URL cannot be resolved by the DNS. DNS contains the Web server address that hosts the Web service. Therefore, DNS can only accept the queries. DNS cannot reply back to the Web client queries.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Service Pack 3.
