APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Operations Manager 2000 Service Pack 1
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4

SYMPTOMS

A memory leak condition may occur on Windows 2000 Service Pack 4-based servers that also have Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) installed. When you try to log on to the server computer, you may experience any of several memory errors. Additionally, the server may stop responding (hang), and event ID 2020 may appear in the system event log.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if programs generate RPC network traffic. Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) generates RPC traffic when communicating with managed agents and may be affected by the problem that is described in this article.
