SYMPTOMS
A Windows Server 2003-based system stops responding (crashes) with an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (Bug Check 0xA) error when an application sends an IOCTL_SCSI_PASS_THROUGH_DIRECT request to a miniport driver that was written for the Storport driver.
CAUSE
To gain access to the data buffer, the Storport miniport driver must set the MapBuffers member of the HW_INITIALIZATION_DATA structure to TRUE. Although the Storport driver is expected to propagate this value to the PORT_CONFIGUATION_INFORMATION structure for later use, it does not do so. Therefore, the Storport driver does not map the data buffers for miniport access. As a result, when the miniport driver tries to access the data buffer, this generates the error that is described in the "Symptoms" section.
