SYMPTOMS
You cannot make reliable virtual private network (VPN) connections when you are running a Microsoft Windows XP-based virtual machine in Virtual PC on Apple Mac OS X.
CAUSE
Neither version of Windows XP currently accommodates reliable VPN connections with Shared Networking under Virtual PC. This includes both the sockets-based and open transport forms of Shared Networking.
RESOLUTION
In both Apple Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X, use Virtual Switch networking for more reliable VPN connections on the Windows XP-based virtual machine. For additional information about how to use Virtual Switch, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
