  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

SYMPTOMS

When you try to build a Web project by using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, your Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer may unexpectedly restart. If your computer is configured so that it does not automatically restart when a Stop error occurs, you may receive a Stop error message that is similar to the following:

STOP: 0x00000024 (0x0019025E, 0xB2D53944, 0x0B2D5359C, 0x80499C21)
NTFS_File_System

Note Although you may experience this problem more frequently when you try to compile a project, this problem may also occur when you try to open a project.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because a NULL pointer may be dereferenced during the compilation of the project. In this scenario, an access violation occurs. Therefore, Windows 2000 stops responding.
