SYMPTOMS

When you configure SharePoint Portal Server to index the public folder store of a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer, you may experience the following symptoms:

  • Error messages similar to the following message are logged in the gatherer log:

    Error fetching URL

For example, the gatherer log contains one or more error messages simlar to the following:

http://ServerName/Public/FolderName/Message 1% Message.EML Add Error fetching URL, (80041201 - The object was not found.)

    -and-
  • Incorrect search results are returned when you search for content in the public folder store. For example, one or more items may be missing from the search results.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you search for Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) items that have one or more percent characters (%) in the subject line. In this situation, the protocol handler in SharePoint Portal Server incorrectly processes the percent characters (%) in the URL. As a result, the items are not indexed in SharePoint Portal Server.
