SYMPTOMS

When you try to save an Office 2003 file to a Novell Netware network location, you may receive an error message that indicates that the file (or the folder that contains it) is marked as read-only.

Note Word 2003 will save a Word document correctly. However, when you try to save an HTM or an RTF file in Word, you receive the error message.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the current version of Client Services for NetWare is installed on your Windows XP-based or Windows 2000-based computer.
