SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You are using a Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based client computer that is joined to a domain that has many users. You run the Group Policy Results command-line tool (GPResult.exe) against the domain controller. When you do this, the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (Lsass.exe) process on the domain controller uses 100 percent of the available memory. When this behavior occurs, there is not enough memory available for other domain controller processes. Therefore, the domain controller becomes unresponsive.
