You are not prompted to confirm the delete operation when you delete an alternate portal site setting in SharePoint Portal Server 2003

Article ID: 823548

Article Last Modified on 12/18/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003

SYMPTOMS

In SharePoint Portal Server 2003 when you click a mapping name in the list of portal site settings on the Configure Alternate Portal Access Settings page of SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration, and then click Delete, the alternate portal site setting is immediately deleted. You are not prompted to confirm that you want to delete the alternate portal site setting before it is deleted from SharePoint Portal Server.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because SharePoint Portal Server does not display a warning message or a dialog box to prompt you to confirm the delete operation when you delete alternate portal site settings in SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, make sure that you click the correct mapping name that you want to delete before you click Delete to delete it. To delete an alternate portal site setting, follow these steps:

  1. Start SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration.
  2. Under Portal Site and Virtual Server Configuration, click Configure alternate portal site URLs for intranet, extranet, and custom access.
  3. Under Mapping name in the list of alternate portal settings, click the mapping name that you want to delete, and then click Delete.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
