  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Edition
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

SYMPTOMS

When you try to save a file to a folder that has the same name as the file that you want to save, the Save As dialog box opens and prompts you about whether you want to replace the existing file, even though a file with the same name does not exist in that folder.

CAUSE

This problem may occur with programs that are included with Windows 2000 -- for example, WordPad. This problem occurs because the code for the file dialog box does not verify whether the file actually exists before it calls the FOKToWriteOver function. Therefore, you receive the Save As dialog box.
