SUMMARY

The behavior of the Active Template Library (ATL) COleDateTime::SetDate method is different in Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003 from the behavior of this method in Microsoft Visual C 6.0. When a user enters a date that is not valid, the COleDateTime::SetDate method no longer sets the status of the COleDateTime object to invalid.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. In Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003, create a new Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) Dialog application.
  2. Insert the following code in a Button event handler:

    COleDateTime dtDate;
    CString szDate;
    BOOL bOK;

    bOK = dtDate.SetDate(2003, 2, 29);
    if((bOK == 0) && (dtDate.GetStatus() == COleDateTime::valid))
    {
        AfxMessageBox("Date Valid!");
    }
  3. Run the application.

    The dtDate variable returns a valid state for a date that is not valid.
