CPR - SQL 2000 - Hotfix in SP4


SYMPTOMS

If you run an UPDATE CUBE statement on a virtual cube, you receive the following error message:

Unable to open cellset
An error occured during query execution - unknown error

Note In this error message, the word "occured" is a misspelling for the word "occurred."

This problem occurs only if both of the following conditions are true:

  • The virtual cube contains two or more base cubes.


-and-

  • The measure that you are updating is not from the first base cube that was specified when the virtual cube was created.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing to further ensure product quality. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.
