SYMPTOMS

When you try to synchronize Microsoft Money 2003 with MSN Money, you may receive the following message:

This Microsoft .NET Passport is already being used with MSN Money Plus

CAUSE

This problem occurs because you cannot use the same Microsoft Passport Network account with Money 2003 synchronization and MSN Money Plus.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Start your Web browser.
  2. In the Address line of your Web browser, type http://www.msn.com/, and then press ENTER.
  3. Click Sign In .net.
  4. In the Passport Network Sign-in dialog box, type your e-mail address, type your password, and then click Sign In.
  5. In your Web browser, locate the following Microsoft Web site:
  6. You should receive the following message:

    MSN Money

    Files Synchronized Enabled

    Your Microsoft Money data is enabled for synchronization and you can use your Passport Network account to view it on the Web.

    Important To use both Money synchronization and MSN Money Plus, you must use a separate Passport Network account for each.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Note This probem no longer applies to Microsoft Money 2004 or later versions. You can use the same Passport Network account in Money 2004 or later versions and Money Plus.
