SYMPTOMS
When you use Microsoft Outlook to create and send an e-mail message that has an embedded e-mail message in the message body, when the receiver of your e-mail opens the embedded e-mail message, addresses that are in the Blind Carbon Copy (Bcc) field can be seen by the recipient.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the mailbox for both you and the receiver of the e-mail message are located on the same Exchange Server computer.

MORE INFORMATION
This problem occurs, for example, under the following scenario:
- In Outlook, you create an e-mail message addressed to User3 in the To field and addressed to User4 in the Bcc field, and then send the e-mail message.
- You create another e-mail message addressed to User2, who has a mailbox on the same Exchange Server computer as your mailbox.
- You drag the e-mail that you sent in step 1 from the Sent Items folder to the body of the e-mail message that is addressed to User2, and the embedded e-mail message appears as an envelope icon in the body of the e-mail message that is addressed to User2.
- You send the e-mail message to User2.
- In Outlook, User2 opens the message, and then double-clicks the envelope icon in the message body to open the attached message.
User2 can see the Bcc information in the embedded e-mail, even though you expect the Bcc information not to be visible.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
