SYMPTOMS
Some of the e-mail users on your Exchange 2000 server cannot access their inboxes. When you view the Application event log in the Event Viewer, you may see events that are similar to the following events:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: ESE
Event Category: Transaction Manager
Event ID: 623
Description: Information Store (3524) 23f6e44f-dd32-4f25-aff7-8af40e5904bb: The version store for this instance (3) has reached its maximum size of 155Mb. It is likely that a long-running transaction is preventing cleanup of the version store and causing it to build up in size. Updates will be rejected until the long-running transaction has been completely committed or rolled back.
