  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Edition
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

SYMPTOMS

In Windows 2000, when you start a program that uses a small computer system interface (SCSI) peripheral device (for example, a Hewlett Packard ScanJet 5P scanner), the program may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This problem may occur when you use a SCSI adapter that contains the Advansys 3550 chipset (Advansys 3550 Ultra Wide SCSI Host Adapter) and you install the driver for the SCSI host adapter (Asc3550.sys) from the Windows 2000 CD-ROM. The Asc3550.sys driver may not correctly report the SCSI request blocks (SRB) status to the class driver.
