SYMPTOMS
If you eject or insert disks in a Fibre Channel array (also known as Just a Bunch of Disks [JBOD]) while power to the array is turned off, duplicate disk devices may appear in the Disk Management Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in. For example, Disk 3 may appear two times: One instance may display all the correct partition information, and the other instance may display all the space on the disk as unallocated. In this scenario, both instances of Disk 3 show a status of Online.
Duplicate disk devices may also appear in the Disk Management snap-in if there is a power failure that affects the Fibre Channel disk array.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if there are duplicate entries in the Logical Disk Manager (LDM) database on different disks in the array.
