SYMPTOMS

After you bring your Windows 2000-based computer out of the standby state and then click the network icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar, the Local Area Connection Status window does not open.

This hotfix requires Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, open Local Area Connection Status by using the Start menu. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Network and Dial Up connections.
  2. In the Network and Dial-up Connections window, right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Status.
