The following are the recommended space requirements, in megabytes (MB), for a Windows 2000 SP4 installation.

Windows 2000 Professional

Space use Space required when you install Windows 2000 SP4 from a distribution folder on the network Space required when you install Windows 2000 SP4 from the Window 2000 SP4 CD or the Windows 2000 SP4 Web site
With backup folder 280 MB 340 MB
Without backup folder 105 MB 165 MB

Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2000 Advanced Server

A backup folder contains copies of all the files that are changed by the installation of the service pack on your computer. The backup folder is created if you select the Archive Files option during Windows 2000 SP4 Setup. When you select this option, you can remove the service pack after you install it to your computer. However, this option requires additional hard-disk space.
