SYMPTOMS

When you are running a Windows 2000 Terminal server that has Citrix Metaframe software installed, system performance may become slow or the computer may stop responding.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you use the Callback feature and you configure this feature to use an asynchronous modem.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

File Information

The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, turn off the Callback feature:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Network and Dial-up Connections.
  2. On the Advanced menu, click Dial-up Preferences.
  3. On the Callback tab, click No callback.
