SYMPTOMS
One or more attachments may be missing or appear to have been removed when you view an e-mail message by using Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) in Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if all the following conditions are true:
- The sender of the e-mail message sends the e-mail message from the Microsoft Outlook 2002 client.
- The sender's e-mail message contains multiple Microsoft Office documents as attachments. For example, the sender's e-mail message contains Microsoft Word (.doc), Microsoft Excel (.xls), or Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt) files as attachments.
- The sender's e-mail message includes a stationery background such as Technical or Pine Lumber.
- You open the message by using OWA in Exchange Server 5.5.

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use Outlook 2002 without a stationery background.
You can also work around this problem if you send the e-mail message by using one of the following Outlook clients:
- Microsoft Outlook 2000 or earlier
- Microsoft Outlook Express 4.0 or later
