  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2002

SYMPTOMS

During periods of high user load, you may experience slow server performance in Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because invalid or deleted objects are requested. As objects, including channels, postings, and resources, are requested, MCMS is designed to cache the requested items on the file system. This design helps to boost the performance of MCMS. However, requests can sometimes be made for invalid or deleted objects. In those instances, a problem occurs because these invalid objects can prevent other objects from being cached. The performance of MCMS is degraded because if the objects are not cached, a database call must be made on every request for each object.
