0XC00000CE Error Occurs When You Use the Resource Mailbox Wizard in ADC Tools

Article ID: 820268

Article Last Modified on 12/3/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Resource Mailbox Wizard in Exchange 2003 ADC Tools, the wizard may not write to all remote Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 sites. The wizard completes, but you receive the following error message:

Site 'Remote55Site' mailbox modifications failed with error
'1 error(s) were encountered while importing the CSV file.
For details, see the file C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Active Directory Connector

When you view the .xml file that is created by the Resource Mailbox Wizard, the following error is reported for the remote site:

0xC00000CE
ntdsNoMatch_Remote55SiteError.xml

The Resource Mailbox Wizard does not successfully write to the remote site. Other sites may be successfully written to.

CAUSE

The problem occurs because the service account that you specified in the Resource Mailbox Wizard to validate against the Exchange Server 5.5 server does not have permissions to access the logging path on the computer that is running ADC Tools.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:

  • Grant the Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 domain administrator account Access Control List (ACL) permissions to the logging path on the Microsoft Active Directory directory service computer. By default, the log files are stored in the following folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Active Directory Connector

  • Change the Exchange Server 5.5 validation account to match the user account that is running the Resource Mailbox Wizard. However, if you do so, make sure that the user account that is running the Resource Mailbox Wizard has at least the Permissions Admin role on the Organization, Site, and Configuration levels of the Exchange Server 5.5 directory.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
