APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server

SYMPTOMS

You may not be able to use Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) to view or delete delivery receipts of messages that you send by using Microsoft Outlook 2000. You may experience the following symptoms:

  • When you try to view the delivery receipt by using OWA, you receive the following error message in your browser window:

    The page cannot be found.

HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.
    Internet Information Services (IIS)

  • When you try to delete the delivery receipt by using OWA, you receive the following error message:

Some items could not be deleted. They were either moved or already deleted, or access was denied.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when the subject line of a message that you composed and sent by using Outlook 2000 contains only a space character. The subject line of the resulting delivery receipt contains the word "Delivered:" (without the quotation marks) followed by a space character. In this situation, the space character in the subject line of the delivery receipt is incorrectly processed by OWA.
