XADM: A Memory Leak Occurs After a Program Calls the ConfigureMsgService() Function

Article ID: 819113

Article Last Modified on 10/26/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 Service Pack 1
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 2
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 Service Pack 3

SYMPTOMS

A memory leak condition occurs each time a program calls the IMsgServiceAdmin::ConfigureMsgService() MAPI interface function. This memory leak, though very small, can result in a memory shortage if a program calls this function many times. When the program that calls this function runs for a long time, the memory leak can become significant.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because not all the temporary allocated resources are freed after the IMsgServiceAdmin::ConfigureMsgService() function is called.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the March 2003 Exchange 2000 Server Post-Service Pack 3 (SP3) Rollup.
