PSRV2002: Error Messages When You Try to Install SharePoint Team Services

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install SharePoint Team Services for Microsoft Project Server 2002, you may receive the following error messages:

Microsoft Project Server: SharePoint Configuration Wizard

Failed to copy the modified search.htx to the Web site where you want to extend SharePoint Team Services.

Verify that SharePoint Team Services has been properly provisioned by using your Web Browser to navigate to the Web Site where you want to extend SharePoint Team Services.

If the SharePoint Team Services Web site is properly provisioned, click OK to proceed with setup, and manually copy search.htx to the correct directory later.

If the Web Site is not correctly provisioned, click Cancel. You can manually provision the Web site from the SharePoint Administrator page and run the SharePoint Configuration Wizard again.

After you click OK, you receive the following error message:

Setup error:

Could not create the subweb

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you try to install SharePoint Team Services for Project Server 2002 on a new Web site that contains the same Port Number as another Web site.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, change the Port Number for your new Web site. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, and then type Inetmgr.
   

Click OK to start the Internet Service Manager.

1. Right-click your new STS Web site, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Web Site tab.
3. In the TCP Port section, type a new Port Number that is not in use by another Web site.
4. Click OK, and then close the Internet Services Manager.
5. Start the SharePoint Configuration Wizard for Project Server and continue with the SharePoint Team Services installation.
